Special Projects at Kluge-Ruhe

Nici Cumpston (Barkindji) is a photographer, painter and curator from Adelaide. During her residency, Cumpston lectured to photography courses at UVA and spoke to the Environmental Sciences Undergraduate Seminar Series on how fine art photography can raise awareness of environmental destruction and degradation. Cumpston also presented a Flash Seminar about crime scene photography and taught two sessions of an Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) class on “Indigenous Photography in Australia”. At the Kluge-Ruhe Collection, Cumpston participated in a local advisory council meeting and consulted with the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph.
