Mural by Reko Rennie and Frank Buffalo Hyde • Saturday January 15, 2011

January 2011

Aboriginal artist Reko Rennie (Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay/Gummaroi) collaborated on a mural at The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative with American Indian artist Frank Bufallo Hyde (Onondaga/Nez Perce). After participating in the Beyond Walls symposium together in January 2011, Rennie and Hyde worked on a mural that was meant to express each artist’s indigenous identity. The mural was installed in July 2011 on the exterior of the Bridge PAI building, and a formal dedication celebrated its new presence in Charlottesville’s Belmont community.
