Indigenous Film Program at the 2014 Virginia Film Festival • Saturday November 1, 2014

For the 2014 Virginia Film Festival, the Kluge-Ruhe Collection presented an Aboriginal Australian film titled Ringtone, an Indigenous American film titled Drunktown’s Finest and a Maori film titled What We Do in the Shadows.

The filmmakers of Ringtone, Jennifer Deger, Warren Gurruwiwi and Enid Burungulmiwuy Wungungmurra of Miyarrka Media, and the writer and director of Drunktown’s Finest, Sydney Freeland, attended the festival for post-screening discussions about the films.

What We Do in the Shadows, written and directed by Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement (Flight of the Conchords), won the Audience Award for Best Narrative Feature.
