Story Circle 2

Tuesday, January 30 - 6:00PM

Share your story in one of our Story Circles this winter! We are participating in the US Department of Art and Culture’s (USDAC) “People’s State of the Union.” This project invites citizens to supplement the President’s stories by sharing our own take on the state of our union.

How does this work? We’ll meet in groups of 6 – 10 people, we’ll feed you dinner from Sticks Kebob Shop for free, and then the story prompt will be announced. Each individual will tell a story from their own experience that relates to the prompt. Afterward, the group will engage in dialogue, identifying themes in the stories. We have chosen to develop prompts relating to privilege, learning about others who are different from us, and personal experiences of August 11 & 12.

Stories are recorded and uploaded to an online story portal where they can be shared and browsed. Then—inspired by these stories—a group of writers invited by USDAC will collaboratively compose the Poetic Address to the Nation, performed and broadcast live.
